Mineral Specimen #1629 Double Terminated Aquamarine
Medina, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.7 x 2.2 x 1.3 cm
$150 / Reserved
A very gemmy and glassy light blue Aquamarine crystal from a location from which specimens are not often available. The habit of the crystal is quite interesting. One termination is for the most part flat but curved on some of the edges and some of the corners. The luster of the termination and the curved surfaces is very high. The other termination is much thinner, rather complex with two small flat sections. One of the wider sides shows well defined, parallel growth lines with three areas which have a flat surface. The other wider side has recessed, hopper growth surfaces. There are three places where there is some unidentified foreign material. In two cases, this material is included and in the third, it is partially included in the crystal. The specimen is in excellent condition with no appreciable damage. The only flaws are the foreign material and a few, small internal fractures.
