Much of this toumraline is hollow and similar specimens are often referred to as "retrogrades". There are acutally several parallel crystals present and are very glassy with good luster and pronounced striations. The color ranges from sea green to a teal blue with a bit of an olive color present in a couple of the terminations (most notably near the hollow termination). Much of the specimen is quite gemmy. Pocket fluids etched out a section of the interior at the terminated end of the main crystal. Part of this termination is very dark. Within the hollow, there are very thin, hair-like crystals of Tourmaline. Although one end of the specimen is not terminated, the specimen is in very good condition with no appreciable damage. On the side of the main crystal, there is one smaller crystal which is quite gemmy and double terminated with one termination pointed and the other concave.
