Centennial Mine, Centennial, Houghton Co., Michigan
8.2 x 6.2 x 3.6 cm

Copper Skulls are only found in the native copper mines of the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. Skulls occur when copper is deposited around a cobble in a conglomerate lode. This small skull is thin (between 1 and 2 mm in thickness) with numerous holes. There are a few attached pieces of broken conglomerate in the interior. On the exterior, there are places where the Copper has extruded outwards. The color is overall a bit lighter in person than the photos and varies from copper color to nearly black to green.
The specimen is in good condition with no appreciable damage.
