Collected by Robert Gannon, 1960s
Two large Calcite crystals included with Marcasite have grown on the sides and termination of an underlying larger Calcite crystal which does not contain Marcasite. The included Marcasite is just below and outer layer of the Calcite which is transparent. The terminations of the crystals are flat and very smooth. The surfaces of the sides are covered with striations at an angle from the axis of the crystal. Some of the sides and edges are curved. The sides and terminations have a good, glossy luster. The specimen is in overall fairly good condition but there are a few flaws. Only one face of the termination of the second largest crystal is intact with cleavage surfaces where the other two faces were. There is also a small cleaved area on one of the faces of the termination of the largest crystal. Additionally, there are a couple of small bruises on some of the edges and corners.
