A double terminated Quartz crystals with a light smoky/tan color which is just filled with long, golden, needle like Rutile crystals. The Rutile crystals are in sprays often radiating from small Hematite crystals from which they have epitaxially grown. When back lit, it can be seen the Quartz is quite gemmy and transparent but is so full of Rutile crystals it appears a bit cloudy. The surfaces of the Quartz crystal vary considerably. Many of the surfaces are smooth with light growth lines perpendicular to the C axis. Some of the surfaces have areas which are slightly recessed, but smooth. On one of the surfaces of the termination, these recessed areas become much deeper and jagged. Two of the sides, at one end of the specimen, are composed of quite a number of sub crystal faces with deep recesses between them. Many of these sub crystals are much lighter in color being white to clear. Scattered amongst these sub crystals, there are many, small dark colored Hematite crystals from which the Rutile crystals extend into the interior of the crystals. The overall luster of the surfaces of the specimen is good.
The specimen is in very good condition with no appreciable damage.
