A layer of beige colored Calcite crystals covers a large, single crystal point of a deeper color. The outer layer of crystals is opaque and has no luster while the Calcite underneath is partially transparent. In many old collections, similar specimens are labeled as Aragonite over Calcite. However, I have been told, the outer layers tests as Calcite.
