Dark chocolate brown colored discoid crystals of Ferroan Magnesite are over a matrix of the same massive material. The crystals are striated and have a glossy luster. Please note: there are other related and similar appearing carbonates from this location which are listed on mindat with the caveat that specimens need to be analyzed to be certain of their make up (to see this list, search for Magnesite from Brosso Mine - the listed species and varieties are in the comments for the second picture listed). There is a label on thebottom of the base of this specimen but I do not know if it was tested in determining it was Ferroan Magnesite; one of the species listed is Siderite, to which the crystals bear a strong resemblance.

Condition: Fairly Good

Flaws: Some of the edges of the crysals are worn and a few are chipped.
