Mineral Specimen #5113 Calcite
Logansport, Cass Co., Indiana
13 x 12.6 x 7.6 cm
5.1 x 5 x 3 in
Sold
Collected by Robert Gannon, 1960s
A termination of a rather large twinned Calcite crystal. The surfaces are for the most part smooth, some off which have slight striations. The surfaces have a glossy luster. The interior is translucent and when well lit the specimen seems to glow. Although a large crystal, Bob Gannon once traded me a Calcite cleavage that was approximately 20 x 10 x 6 inches in size. He said it came from a crystal over 10 feet (3 meters) in length. It was in very good condition but impossible to remove from the quarry. He said he felt terrible busting it up.
Condition: Fairly Good
Flaws: There are some bruised areas and some areas which appear to be contact points.
