A Quartz crystal with unusually bright yellow/green inclusions. I bought several specimens of this material from a Brazilian wholesaler at Denver, included one very large specimen with several large crystals. When I asked the wholesaler what the included material was, he responded with "Lodolite". This was something I had never heard of and first thought it might be a varietal name. Instead, it turns out to be a generic term for included Quartz used by the metaphysical community. One source says the origin of the word is thought to be from the Spanish, lodo, meaning mud. It is more likely derived from Portuguese where lodo has a similar meaning since the term is usually used for Quartz from Minas Gerais. Much of the included material is from the Chlorite group and perhaps contains other phyllosilicate minerals. That being said, the colors are quite rich and clearly visible because the top layers of the Quartz are water clear. The faces are very smooth and almost look polished. However, under 10x, faint growth lines can be seen. But, it still may have been enhanced with a light polishing. Note: the other specimens definitely were not polished. Also, there are a number of smaller faces near the bottom which are also very smooth - it would seem to be a lot of work to polish them also. To be honest, it is hard to say for sure either way.
Condition: Very Good
Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
