Mineral Specimen #5477 Michigan Oolitic Agate
Green Oak Twp. near Brighton, Livingston Co., Michigan
11.2 x 5.6 x 4.9 cm
Sold
A form of Oolitic Agate with colors ranging from rosy red/pink to pink to gray to white. These agates are found in the glacial moraines outside of Brighton, Michigan. This specimen was uncovered during gravel mining in Green Oak township. It has been cut and polished to a brightfinish. This specimen is a little better than most in both color and because it has some banding which is not usually seen. An interesting note, I live on a glacial moraine in Brighton Twonship about 3 miles north of the now, long defunct gravel pits where this specimen came from. We actually find similar agates on occasion in theyard. I have had them cut and polished but none have had as nice as color as this specimen.
Condition: Very Good
Flaws: Two small, hairline, barely visible cracks - one near an edge and the other near the hollow area.
