A one centimeter thick slab of Specular Hematite that has been coated with a thick layer of 2 part Epoxy designed for bar counter tops (UV resistant and non yellowing). This specimen is considerably more attractive in person than in the pictures. It looks like silver glitter and due to all the sparkles and the high surface luster, photographing is difficult. The silver glitter has a black colored background for good contrast. There are also crudely formed chuncks of Almandine garnet present with a slight purple/red color which are easier to see on the back, untreated side. It was the presence of the garnet that was the reason the material was cast aside because it would complicate the smelting process of the Hematite. There is an entire cliffside of this material at the long closed mine.
Condition: Excellent
Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
