Almandine crystals which have pseudomorphed to a black mineral, likely Chamosite which was often found at the mines around Michigamme which is less than 10 miles (16 km) away. These are a bit different from the specimens from MIchigamme having much smoother faces, better defined edges and corners and better luster. Where the crystals are broken, a little bit of reddish Almandine is still present and visible. The contrast of the black crystals and the white Quartz makes an interesting and attractive specimen.
Condition: Good
Flaws: One side of this specimen is in very good condition such that the specimen can be displayed with minimal damage showing. However, of interest is one side where the interior of the crystal can be seen.
