Ex. Steve Pullman
K(Fe3+,Mg,Fe2+)8(Si,Al)12(O,OH)27, K(Fe,Mg,Mn)13(Si,Al)18O42(OH)14
This specimen is composed of layers of Stilpnomelane interspersed with Quartz, Zussmanite and likely other species. On a curved surface, the Stilpnomelane has a slight brownish coloration and has a very high luster (which makes photographing difficult). The varietal name, Ferristilpnomelane, refers to a slightly ferrian variety. There are minor amounts of Zussmanite present, in some of the layers, which is a dull green color. This is quite a rare species which is only found in a few places in the world with this, the type location, being the only place where specimens have been available in any quantity. The specimen is from mine run flat from Steve Pullman's collection. From the discoloration of the wrappings, the flat and a few labels that were present, it appears the specimen was collected some time ago.
Condition: Composed of massive material.
Flaws: Essentially massive material.
