The surface of this specimen is composed primarily of Stilpnomelane which in places is a brown color with a slight reddish tint and has a very high luster. The varietal name, Ferristilpnomelane, refers to a slightly ferrian variety. There are very minor amounts of Zussmanite present which is a dull green color which is quite a rare species which is only found in a few places in the world with this, the type location, being the only place where specimens have been available in any quantity.
Condition: Composed of massive material.
Flaws: Essentially massive material.
