This is an attractive specimen with large rhombohedral crystals of which are labeled as being Ankerite. This is an extremely nice example of this material for which this mine is noted. Both the size of the specimen and the crystals is larger than usually seen. The crystals are yellow/orange/tan color, richer than usual, and set off by black Sphalerite crystals of the iron rich variety Marmatite. Mixed in with the Sphalerite is minor Galena an few small Pyrite crystals. In places, the sulfides are stacked up in small piles. Please note most similar specimens from the location are now considered to be iron rich Dolomite (actually, true Dolomite, from any location, is now considered to be quite rare with the majority of specimens previously labeled as Ankerite being iron rich Dolomite). That being said, there are currently 8 specimens for the location on mindat listed as Ankerite and another 8 are listed as Dolomite. In general, the specimens labeled as Dolomite are lighter in color. On this specimen, the color is the rich yellow/orange/tan, but on a few of the crystals on the side of the specimen, there has been cleavage and the richer color material is a thin layer with much lighter, almost white, material underneath.

Condition: Composed of massive material.

Flaws: Essentially massive material.
