Ex. Luiz Menezes
A long, thin Tourmaline crystal which has two, double terminated Quartz crystals at its base. The Quartz crystals are similar in habit to Herkimer Diamonds. Included within the Quartz crystals are needle like Tourmaline crystals. One of the largest of these included crystals extends from the smaller Quartz crystal into the larger. The Tourmaline crystal is basically black in appearance but when backlit can be seen to have a reddish brown color. There is another, small, broken Tourmaline crystal attached to the smaller Quartz crystal which appears a greenish color when backlit. The Tourmaline crystal has a satiny luster with faint striations along its length. The termination has three flat faces and a complex group of subfaces and thin sub crystals at its lowest corner.
Condition: Good
Flaws: The small Tourmaline crystal attached to the Quartz crystals at the base of the large crystal is incomplete. There are a few, small internal fractures in the large Tourmaline crystal. At first glance, it appears as if there is some damage just below the termination of the large crystal (on the side opposite of the Quartz crystals). However, close examination under 10x reveals there are actually a number of terminations and no damage.
