Ex. University of Michigan Geology Department #5824, Lederer collection, prior to 1841
This is essentially an historic ore sample specimen. The specimen comes from the collection of Baron Alois Joseph Xavier Von Lederer who was born in 1773 and died in 1842. He was the Consul General of the Austrian Empire to the United States. He was an avid mineral collector and had at the time one of the most extensive mineral collections in the world. His European specimens were purchased by the University of Michigan in 1841 (Michigan had only been a state for 5 years at the time). A variety of Titanite, Lederite (of Shepard), was named after him.
Condition: Composed of massive material.
Flaws: Essentially massive material.
