A Sulfur crystal from a limestone quarry just south of Detroit. The location was featured a few years ago in the Mineralogical Record. The color is a bright canary yellow (more vivid than in the pictures where the color is darkened by the background). The specimen has a high luster and is translucent and almost transparent. There are unusual striations with a few being hollow likely due to dissolution after the crystal was formed. I was able to collect there several times in the 90s, but not only is the location closed to collecting these days where it is currently being worked is below the layer of mineralization.
Condition: Excellent
Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
From the Kirk Valuet collection
